I am an amateur photographer in search of a way to share my experiences in life.
I was born in the early 1950s and was a Child of the 60s in so many ways! I grew up during the civil rights movement, the environmental movement, and the anti-war (Vietnam) movement.  It was a time of assassinations: John F. Kennedy, Malcolm X, Martin Luther King, Jr.,  and Bobby Kennedy. Tumultuous times when the war in Vietnam raged and numbers of Americans who died each day were announced on the national news every night.
The environmental movement, sparked by Rachel Carson's book of 1962, Silent Spring, began during my formative years. We were bombarded with toxic air pollution levels in Los Angeles and New York City (and elsewhere, for sure); an oil spill off the coast of Santa Barbara, California that killed large numbers of birds and aquatic life; the Cuyahoga River in Ohio caught fire; and so much more!
I grew up during a music revolution.  We went from the Girl Groups of the late-50s and early-60s to Folk Music; from  Berry Gordy Jr's Motown to Elvis! Then came the Beatles, the Stones, Jimi Hendrix, Janice Joplin, The Who, and Woodstock. The world was changing before our eyes on a daily basis.
Influenced by my experiences in the 1960s, I ultimately had a career working as a vegetation ecologist for private industry, non-profit organizations, and two federal land management agencies. Since my retirement in 2013, I have focused on travel and photography. It's what I love to do.
While I have carried cameras around with me most of my life, only recently have I decided that this is what I aim to be.  A Photographer.  Today I am working diligently on developing my voice - my vision - of what I want to accomplish as a photographer.
I hope you enjoy what you see.
